Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior software engineering leader to design and deliver large-scale underwriting platforms, including AI/ML capabilities. You will architect secure, scalable services and own end-to-end system lifecycles while mentoring engineers and shaping engineering standards.

You will collaborate with Product and Operations to achieve measurable business outcomes, modernize legacy systems, and drive excellence in observability, performance, and security.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with senior-level leadership.
• 8+ years leading architecture and large-scale system initiatives.
• 4+ years building and operating systems in public cloud environments.
• 3+ years working on AI/ML-driven products or platforms.
• Experience contributing to or leveraging open-source frameworks.
• Deep experience with Java, Go or C++.
• Strong background in distributed systems and REST/gRPC architectures.
• Hands-on with cloud-native systems on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Fluency in DevOps and CI/CD, including infrastructure as code.
• Advanced understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design.
• Proven experience with observability and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of large-scale underwriting platforms with AI/LLM capabilities.
• Architect highly available, secure, scalable services for enterprise workloads.
• Own end-to-end systems from concept to production evolution.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and set engineering standards.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to elevate engineering excellence.
• Partner with Product, Operations, and Leadership to drive measurable outcomes.
• Modernize legacy systems via cloud migration, automation, and digital initiatives.
• Champion observability, performance, reliability, and security best practices.
• Translate complex concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
