Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Cybersecurity & Technology Audit Leader to shape strategy, methodology, and culture for a new audit function in San Francisco. You will lead complex audits of cybersecurity, data, and AI risks, guiding governance, resilience, and risk management decisions.

You will bridge executive governance questions with technical analysis, using data to assess risk and form clear, well-supported conclusions in fast-moving situations. Relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• 12-15+ years of experience in cybersecurity or technology audit.
• Strong knowledge across cloud platforms, IAM, application security, infrastructure, networks.
• Knowledge of data governance, provenance, and analytics in AI contexts.
• Experience with data analytics, scripting, automation, or AI-assisted techniques.
• Ability to translate complex findings into clear business implications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Certifications like CISSP, CISA, CISM are valued but not required.

Responsibilities

• Build and execute a risk-based audit and advisory strategy across cybersecurity, infrastructure, systems architecture, cloud, data, software development, and AI.
• Drive governance and oversight of critical technology programs and emerging AI risks.
• Assess complex environments and control effectiveness across architecture, access, logs, cloud controls, and security monitoring.
• Translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations for innovation and risk management.
• Build advanced audit capabilities using data analytics, automation, and AI for risk assessment and reporting.
• Foster trusted relationships and report to management, regulators, and the Board.
• Monitor tech developments, threat activity, and regulatory changes to keep approach current.
• Coach colleagues and contribute to a culture of high standards and continuous learning.
