Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Cybersecurity & Technology Audit Leader to shape the strategy, methodology, and culture of a new internal audit function. You will lead complex audits across cybersecurity, data, AI, and technology risks while guiding governance, resilience, and risk management with a hands-on, data-driven approach.

Based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model (3 days in the office) and relocation assistance for new hires, this role requires deep technical expertise and strong business

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, technology audit, technology risk, security engineering, data risk, or related fields.
• Strong technical expertise across cloud platforms, IAM, application security, infrastructure, networks, vulnerability management, incident response, security operations, and data platforms.
• Knowledge of data architecture, provenance, lineage, quality, governance, access, and analytics, including AI data risks.
• Familiarity with AI/machine-learning risks and experience with data analytics, scripting, automation, or AI‑assisted techniques.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead audits and advisory reviews of cybersecurity, technology, data, and AI risks.
• Develop governance, model governance, data quality, and privacy controls in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Translate complex technical findings into clear business implications and practical recommendations.
• Advise on using data analytics, automation, and AI to enhance risk assessment and monitoring.
• Coach team members and foster a culture of high standards and continuous learning.
• Communicate findings to executives, regulators, and the Board and maintain strong partnerships.
