Job summary

Cox Automotive seeks an experienced Lead Cybersecurity Engineer to serve as a senior technical voice on the Detection Engineering team, directing enterprise- and customer-focused detection capabilities across Cox Automotive brands. The role emphasizes AI-driven detection, incident response collaboration, and hands-on technical leadership.

Reporting to the Director of Cyber Detection Engineering, you will design, build, and maintain detection assets, mentor engineers, and drive improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 6+ years of experience.
• Multi-cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks and prompt engineering for security applications.
• Expert level knowledge of Detection Engineering.
• Strong experience with information security, network security, security monitoring, and Incident Response.
• Strong experience with developing SIEM/SOAR detection and automation use cases.
• Working experience with threat intelligence, firewalls, SASE, IPS, endpoint security, DLP, SIEM/SOAR, and Data Lakes.
• 3+ years experience in a cyber defense role.

Responsibilities

• Lead detection engineering initiatives and build guardian detector solutions for enterprise and customer environments.
• Define and execute the Detection Engineering roadmap and objectives.
• Architect and deploy AI-driven detection systems and multi-agent threat hunting frameworks.
• Develop self-updating detections and automated remediation playbooks.
• Collaborate with Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, and Vulnerability Management teams.
• Provide off-hours support for security administration, detection, and response.
