Job summary

Jet AirWerks, a Barnes Aerospace company, in Arkansas City, KS, is seeking a Senior Repair Development Engineer with DER authority to lead repair development for aftermarket operations. The role focuses on developing, validating, and implementing aerospace component repair solutions while ensuring regulatory compliance and customer requirements.

You will guide complex repair projects, coordinate with engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of aftermarket repair development experience in aerospace and aeroderivative markets.
• FAA DER accreditation or experience working directly with FAA DER.
• Strong leadership, communication, emotional intelligence, and organizational astuteness.
• Experience with cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits, including regulatory authority audits.
• Working experience with 3D CAD applications (Mastercam preferred) and ERP systems.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple repair development projects with schedule, cost and technical objectives.

Responsibilities

• Product and process ownership for complex repair development activities on new repair products and processes.
• Develops project plans and coordinates development stages with customers and/or OEM.
• Supports quoting new repair and development projects.
• Leads development projects to achieve quality and on-time delivery requirements.
• Supports hand-off to operations and Process Engineering during low-rate initial production.
• Drives proactive risk reduction across safety, delivery and productivity.
• Collaborates with repair team to develop build plans supporting delivery and inventory strategy.
• Creates and supports a continuous improvement environment to reduce cost and shorten turnaround time.
• Mentors junior engineers and cross-functional teams; reviews engineering drawings and process specs.
