Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to take charge of the design and delivery of aerospace and flight-worthy structures. This position entails significant responsibilities in mechanical design, requiring both leadership and hands-on work.

The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and have over 6 years of relevant experience. Strong design skills in SolidWorks and aerospace systems are essential, as well as the ability to mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience designing aerospace and/or defense systems.
• Experience in developing hardware that has passed qualification testing.
• Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of material properties.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design efforts while supporting the engineering group.
• Conceptualize and develop structures and mechanisms according to specifications.
• Verify calculations and analysis work of others.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their development.
