Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Lead Advanced Practice Provider in Interventional Radiology. The role blends inpatient and outpatient duties with a 4x10 schedule, no nights or weekends, and a focus on leadership, training, and program development.

Qualifications

The

Lead Advanced Practice Provider (APP)- Interventional Radiology

reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Lead APP in collaboration with other health professionals, provides high quality, cost effective advanced patient care to patients, manages health care systems and influences health care decision-making through expert clinical reasoning, research and theory-based practice. This role also coordinates the training and onboarding of new Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within a program, and facilitates professional development opportunities for those APPs. The Lead APP is an advocate and voice for the APP staff at leadership forums, and works closely with leadership within the practice to provide input into APP performance, evaluation and competency.

This role will be hybrid, a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities.

Schedule:

4x10 hour days (Monday-Friday)

  • no nights/weekends/holidays/no on-call
Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct care to patients which demonstrates clinical expertise and advanced knowledge and may perform duties listed in the job description for an APP
  • Develops and coordinates APP training and professional development activities twice per year
  • Collaborates with practice leadership to provide input on APP performance, competency, and work assignments
  • Coaches, trains, mentorsand provides ongoing feedback to APPs in the practice/program
  • Meets 1:1 with APPs in building twice per year
  • Monitors access metrics +/- Quality/Value Based Care Metrics
  • Is a liaison for APP staff with management and service line leadership teams
  • Partners with Medical Director and Director of Operationsto bring forward initiatives that relate to the overall vision of NM
  • Dotted line reporting status to Director of Operationsand Director of Advanced Professional Practice

Management Responsibility:
  • This position collaborates with the management of the department to evaluate the performance of employees, assign work, and serve as mentor for day to day activities, but does not directly manage employees.
Population Served:
  • Internal: patients, unit-specific nursing staff, managers, physicians on a regular basis, Operational Vice Presidents, Directors
  • External: patient/families, physicians, other healthcare providers or educational institutions for patient care services, referrals, networking.
Required
  • At least 5 years of experience in area of specialty
  • Education and License requirements are validated through the credentialing process in Medical Staffing (Physician Assistantor Nurse Practitionerlicense)
  • Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP will be considered in lieu of acute care certification)
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

All required to hold and maintain:

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as specified by department
  • Controlled substance license and DEA registration required as specified by the department
Preferred:
  • 2 years of experience in IR
