Job summary

Rhoda AI is building the next generation of generalist robots. We seek a Senior Actuator Modeling Engineer to develop 1D actuator models and perform duty-cycle synthesis, optimization, and fatigue life modeling to guide hardware design.

You will own physics-based modeling across electromagnetics, thermal, and mechanical domains, translating real-world use cases into monetized design targets and robust simulations that influence decisions across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years developing physics-based models for electromechanical systems.
• Strong grasp of electromechanical actuator physics and related design questions.
• Proficient in 1D system modeling and multi-domain simulation.
• Ability to translate customer needs into prioritized, monetized targets.
• Comfort with design of experiments, sensitivity analysis, and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the 1D actuator model as the source of truth.
• Synthesize duty cycles from real use cases for sizing and life prediction.
• Build optimization models to identify high-leverage changes.
• Quantify trade-offs with data-driven design decisions.
• Develop simulations for actuator architecture trade-offs early.
• Build thermal models to guide cooling decisions.
• Develop fatigue and life models for gear and bearings.
• Create efficiency models across operating envelopes.
• Collaborate with actuator design, controls, reliability, and systems engineering.
