Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Airframe & Powerplant license required or PEMCO Repairman's Certificate.
- Five (5) years of experience in heavy aircraft maintenance, preferably with an airline and/or MRO company.
- Thorough working knowledge of all forms and documents supporting heavy maintenance, including company policies, FARs, ADs, Service Bulletins, and Maintenance Manuals.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints, and drawings.
- Proficiency in using tools, gauges, instruments, etc., necessary for the duties.
- Understanding of hazardous material handling and disposal related to the job.
- Thorough knowledge of work within a specific classification or specialized operation.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions.
- Leadership qualities, including cooperation and teamwork skills.
- Capability to perform high-quality work efficiently, and to lead and direct others.
- Ability to complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, technical orders, operating procedures, and directives.
Major Responsibility Areas and Duties
- Perform work within his classification for the majority of working hours.
- Lead, assign, and direct work according to employee classifications.
- Instruct others in proper methods and procedures when required.
- Review work in progress, ensure quality, and timely completion.
- Address and resolve common difficulties encountered in job tasks.
- Maintain records related to job assignments.
- Ensure the satisfactory completion of work by assigned employees.
- Refer issues outside his authority to his Supervisor.
- Not authorized to recommend employment, transfer, promotion, or disciplinary actions.
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned necessary for daily operations.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, stands, and heights.
- Work with hands extended overhead.
- Correctable near and far vision.
- Ability to hear conversationally with hearing aid.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Handle small parts and operate hand tools properly.
