Amazon Robotics is seeking a Software Development Engineer with deep expertise in 3D data, geometry processing, and USD asset pipelines to join the Robotics Simulation team in Bellevue. You will own the 3D pipeline architecture, drive cross-team standards, mentor engineers, and shape asset strategies across robotics programs.

The role emphasizes building scalable tooling, integrating cutting-edge 3D techniques, and delivering high visual and physics fidelity in simulation-ready content.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or Master’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience focused on 3D data, geometry, or graphics pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in Python with geometry/mesh processing libraries.
• Working knowledge of USD: composition, schemas, layering, and programmatic authoring.

Responsibilities

• Design and harden automated pipelines that convert CAD assemblies into simulation-ready USD assets with correct articulation, collision geometry, material properties, and physics parameters.
• Implement geometry processing tools (mesh optimization, convex decomposition, feature culling, LOD generation).
• Integrate emerging 3D techniques into production workflows as they mature.
• Define and enforce 3D asset standards and build validation tooling that checks assets against quality gates.
• Collaborate with Applied Scientists to ensure assets meet downstream training pipeline requirements.
