Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Software Development Engineer with deep expertise in 3D data, geometry processing, and USD. You will own the team’s 3D pipeline architecture, drive standards, and mentor engineers.

You will integrate advanced 3D techniques into production workflows and collaborate with Applied Scientists to align assets with training pipelines. The role emphasizes CAD-to-USD asset conversion, mesh optimization, and automation tooling, with a focus on scalable, high-fidelity

Qualifications

• 5+ years of programming with at least one software language.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Master's degree in CS, engineering, mathematics or equivalent (or MS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering).
• 5+ years of professional software development experience focused on 3D data, geometry, or graphics pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in Python with geometry/mesh libraries.
• Knowledge of USD: composition, schemas, layering, and programmatic authoring.
• Understanding of 3D geometry fundamentals and format interop.
• Track record of owning production 3D pipelines end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design and harden automated pipelines that convert CAD assemblies into USD assets.
• Implement geometry processing tools balancing fidelity with performance.
• Integrate emerging 3D techniques into production workflows as they mature.
• Define and enforce 3D asset standards and build validation tooling.
• Collaborate with Applied Scientists to meet downstream training requirements.
• Own the architectural direction of the 3D pipeline ecosystem.
• Mentor junior SDEs and Technical Artists on geometry processing and USD.
• Lead design documents and cross-team alignment on asset standards.
