Job summary

Flex is seeking a Lead in Austin, TX to provide leadership to groups of non-exempt employees under the Associate Production Supervisor. This role drives daily operations and ensures alignment with production goals in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead process development, coordinate resources, assist with budget planning, and maintain clear communication across shifts while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical training required.
  • 2 years of related experience required.
  • Expert consultant in manufacturing line skills.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing line techniques with process improvements.
  • Able to present information to individuals and groups.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing feedback on performance through evaluations.
  • Lead process development and cost improvement projects.
  • Coordinate department staffing requirements.
  • Assist in budget planning and manage expenses.
  • Communicate daily plan and production or customer service issues.
  • Identify shortages and coordinate with Expediter/Purchasing.
  • Monitor bottlenecks and report downtime.
  • Interface with Test Support/Maintenance on equipment problems.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Lead located in Austin, TX.

Reporting to the Associate Production Supervisor the Lead role is responsible for providing leadership and direction to groups of non-exempt employees.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Providing ongoing feedback on performance of individuals through both formal and informal evaluations.
  • Initiating and participating in process development and cost improvement projects.
  • Coordinating people resource requirements for the department.
  • Assisting in department budget planning and manage department expenses.
  • Communicating daily plan and any production or customer service issues
  • Highlighting material shortages, interface with Expediter/Purchasing on any part shortages
  • Recognizing and monitor bottlenecks.
  • Reporting and alerting resources concerning downtime.
  • Interfacing with Test Support/Maintenance on equipment problems.
  • Tracking time for NPI/Pre-production/re-work.
  • Communicating with opposite shift to ensure communication flow.
  • Updating department communication boards.
  • Following quality indicators. Stop and alert if predefined indicators are below target.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • Typically requires an associate’s degree, vocational or technical training, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 2 years of related experience.
  • Serves as an expert/consultant in manufacturing line skills with other employees.
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of manufacturing line techniques and may improve processes.
  • Applies new technologies/ techniques.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, and supervisors of the organization
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
