The Leachates Technician is responsible for performing leachate extractions on environmental samples using EPA Method 1311 (TCLP), EPA Method 1312 (SPLP), applicable ASTM leaching methods, and Zero Headspace Extraction (ZHE) techniques. This includes operating rotary extraction equipment, preparing reagents and extraction fluids, and completing sample preparation activities in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.Perform TCLP, SPLP, ASTM-based leaching procedures, and ZHE extractions in accordance with approved methodsOperate and maintain rotary extraction equipment and ZHE apparatus to ensure proper extraction conditionsPrepare and handle soil, sludge, and solid waste samples for leachate analysisPrepare extraction fluids, buffers, and reagents required for EPA and ASTM methodsLoad, secure, and monitor extraction systems to ensure proper agitation time, pressure conditions (for ZHE), and method complianceFilter and transfer extracts for further laboratory analysisAssist with bottle preparation and sample management as neededAssist with inventory control activities including receiving, supply ordering, stocking, and auditingPerform other duties as assigned and directed
