Full-Time | Permanent | Investment Management – Fixed Income / LDI

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Liability-Driven Investment (LDI) Portfolio Manager to join our institutional asset management team in New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing custom LDI portfolios designed to match pension plan liabilities, working closely with actuaries, clients, and internal investment teams. This role is ideal for a fixed income professional with deep expertise in pension plan dynamics, duration-matching strategies, and asset-liability management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of LDI strategies for corporate pension plans, public funds, and other institutional clients.
• Manage fixed income portfolios including Treasuries, investment-grade credit, STRIPS, TIPS, and derivatives (e.g., interest rate swaps, futures).
• Monitor liability profiles and rebalancing triggers; maintain high alignment between assets and plan liabilities.
• Collaborate with actuarial consultants and internal risk teams to interpret liability data and construct hedge-efficient portfolios.
• Generate custom reporting and performance attribution, clearly communicating investment outcomes to clients.
• Stay current on market developments, rate environments, and regulatory trends affecting DB plan sponsors.
• Assist in product innovation, thought leadership, and marketing efforts to grow LDI client base.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in institutional fixed income portfolio management, with at least 3 years focused on LDI strategies.
• Strong understanding of defined benefit plan liabilities, duration matching, curve positioning, and tracking error management.
• Experience with risk systems (e.g., Barra, Bloomberg PORT, Yield Book, Aladdin) and modeling tools.
• Knowledge of interest rate derivatives and regulatory constraints (e.g., ERISA, Dodd-Frank margin rules).
• Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical investment strategies to clients and consultants.

Preferred:

• CFA designation or progress toward it.
• Familiarity with actuarial valuation concepts and pension funding rules (ASC 715, PPA, etc.).
• Experience working with corporate plan sponsors or OCIO platforms.
• Advanced Excel, Python, or data analytics skills are a plus.
