Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; military or technical degrees preferred.
  • 2–4 years of field experience in technical/industrial oil & gas services preferred.
  • 2–4 years of Method 21 and/or Optical Gas Imaging experience preferred.
  • Proficient in reading P&ID drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Willingness to travel to remote oil and gas locations.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in adverse weather.
  • OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER or PEC Safety training (or equivalent) required or training subsidized by Encino.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct LDAR inspections and field tagging on regulated components per facility P&ID’s.
  • Record date/time, inspector identity, and relevant environmental data for each inspection.
  • Compile daily leak-inspection and observation logs.
  • Coordinate with field maintenance and environmental teams for scheduling and logistics.
  • Create daily field journals detailing observations for process improvement.
  • Report findings to Field Supervisors and Database Administrator on a daily basis.
  • Travel to remote oil and gas sites/facilities to perform LDAR tasks.
  • Use tablets and database/management software for data collection and reporting.
  • Assist other Encino departments such as Emissions Testing, Monitoring Technologies, and PRV as needed.

Job description

In the role of Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Technician , the candidate will primarily be responsible for office and field support of Method 21 projects while supporting Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) and Quantitative – Optical Gas Imaging (Q-OGI) surveys when necessary. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to conducting daily field calibrations, inspections, LDAR leak tag creation, and field tag installation on regulated components per facility P&ID’s. Daily reporting of survey details and leaking component data is a requirement.

Activities required to support LDAR projects include traveling to and performing LDAR responsibilities at oil and gas production facilities which may be remote or in difficult-to-access areas and coordinating with client personnel regarding site access and scheduling. This role will require self-motivation, frequent travel, and independent thinking to troubleshoot logistic.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct equipment inspections on upstream (exploration & production) oil and gas components in accordance with EPA methodologies (40 CFR Subpart 60 OOOOa/b/c); OGMP 2.0, Voluntary Surveys including but not limited to abandoned Well Sites, Well Sites, Tank Batteries, Compressor Stations, Gas Processing plants.
  • Record date/time, Inspector/Technician identification, and pertinent environmental data relevant to each inspection project.
  • Compile daily leak-inspection and observation log.
  • Liaison with field-level maintenance and environmental representatives to coordinate inspection project schedules and logistical planning.
  • Compile a daily field journal detailing general observations (for process improvement).
  • Report findings (daily) to the Field Supervisors and Database Administrator.
  • Travel to remote oil and gas production sites/facilities.
  • Leverage technologies for leak inspections and data management (smart tablets, database/management systems, business optimization systems/software, etc.).
  • Assist other Encino Departments as needed including Emissions Testing, Monitoring Technologies, and Pressure Relief Valve (PRV).
Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma, general education development (GED), or equivalent (military service and/or technical degrees preferred).
  • 2-4 years’ field experience regarding technical, industrial, and/or oil and gas services (preferred).
  • 2-4 years of Method 21 and/or Optical Gas Imaging (highly preferred).
  • Proficiencies in reading and understanding Piping and Instrument Diagram’s (P&ID’s).
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Willing to travel to remote oil and gas locations throughout the geographic project area.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to work alone and in teams, lift up to 40 lbs. and work in adverse weather both hot and cold.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Must be task-oriented with the ability to maintain tight schedules.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening; and
  • Must have Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training, PEC Safety (Safeland USA) training, or equivalent (Encino will subsidize training gaps).
