Job summary

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a fitter apprentice to maintain safe and adequate services for customers. The role includes gas utility construction, training, and operating equipment for main/service installs, leak work, and surveys.

You must present neatly and interact with customers courteously. Education includes a high school diploma; CDL is required within 60 days, and you must live within 30 miles of the reporting HQ.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, basic math skills, written and verbal communication skills, basic mechanical knowledge.
• CDL required within 60 days of hire; residency within 30 miles of reporting headquarter.
• Construction and/or HVAC experience is helpful but not required; on the job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform work of a fitter apprentice maintaining safe and adequate services to customers.
• Perform gas utility construction work activities according to classification and complete training and Operator Qualifications.
• Operate equipment for main installs, service installs, leak investigations, and leak surveys.
• Present neat appearance and interact with internal and external customers courteously and efficiently.
• Complete other duties as assigned, including service watch.

Job Summary

Perform gas utility construction work activities according to classification. Satisfactorily complete all training and Operator Qualifications requirements of the classification. Will be required to operate equipment used to perform main installs, service installs, leak investigations, and leak surveys. Must present neat appearance and work with internal and external customers in a courteous and efficient manner. This position performs other work as assigned, including service watch.
