Job summary

Sierra Health and Wellness's Serenity Light Recovery Center seeks a Substance Use Disorder counselor to provide treatment and education for patients and families across care levels. You will develop individual plans, deliver counseling, and coordinate services to support recovery.

Responsibilities include group and family sessions, crisis intervention, documentation, and collaboration with medical and clinical staff to ensure compliant, evidence-based care for diverse populations in Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health, human services, or related field preferred.
• Active LCDC license in the state of Texas.
• Knowledge of Texas HHSC regulations and documentation standards.
• Experience providing counseling services for substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
• Facilitate psychoeducational groups related to addiction, relapse prevention, and recovery skills.
• Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
• Provide case management, including coordination of care and referrals to community resources.
• Develop discharge and aftercare plans to support sustained recovery.
• Participate in crisis intervention and relapse prevention planning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, psychiatric, and clinical staff.
• Communicate effectively with referral sources and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and organizational policies and ethical standards.
