Job summary

Cates Control Systems, in Plano and Wylie, TX, is seeking a Layout / Staging Technician to join our team. You will layout hardware and materials per drawings, drill and install parts onto back panels, and ensure all paperwork stays with each panel for shipping.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of experience, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Reading wiring schematics and UL508A experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred and must be physically able to lift 75 lbs.
• Experience with layout and staging of enclosures per drawings.
• Ability to read wiring schematics and select appropriate hardware.

Responsibilities

• Login to project database based on drawing numbers.
• Layout hardware per drawings and prepare panels for assembly.
• Drill and install parts onto back panels per drawings.
• Maintain paperwork with each panel for shipping.
• Cut or hole-punch enclosures as specified.
• Install required hardware on enclosures.
• Identify parts for loose shipment when needed.
• Return unused hardware after assembly.
• Complete the layout check sheet.

Cates Control Systems, in Plano and Wylie, TX is looking to hire a Layout / Staging Technician. Joining the Cates team is both challenging and rewarding. You will become an important member of a very talented and dynamic team within our industry. If this sounds like you, please read on!

The Role

• Login to the appropriate software database based on the project number as shown on the drawings.


• Check out all hardware from the parts staging area.


• Layout all hardware and materials according to the drawings provided.


• Drill and install all parts onto the back panel.


• Make sure all empty boxes are kept until the job ships.


• Make sure all paperwork for each part is kept with the panel.


• Cut/Hole-punch enclosures according to the provided drawings.


• Install all required hardware on the enclosure.


• Locate and designate any hardware that needs to be “loose shipped” with project.


• Return any unused hardware for the back pan or enclosure.


• Complete the layout check sheet supplied with drawings.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred


• 2 years prior experience preferred


• This position requires a significant amount of bending and standing


• Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds at any time


• Ability to read wiring schematic


• UL508A and NEC experience


• Good project and time management skills

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Work Location: We are hiring for both Plano and Wylie locations.

Schedule

• Shop is open Monday through Friday, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.


• We have two shifts you can choose to work; they are below:
  5:00 am – 3:30 pm
  6:00 am – 4:30 pm.


• Weekend availability: Saturdays from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm (expected to work one Saturday each month).


• Overtime pay available for hours worked beyond 40 hours in a week.
