    Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School is seeking an outstanding Theatre educator to aid in our middle school performing arts program's instructional development and expansion. We are looking for someone excited to teach a wide variety of arts electives at the middle school level, with a strong focus on STEAM/Theatre Technology & Design.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Teach 6-week elective courses in Theatre & Film for students in Grades 6-8.
    • Design and deliver creative, thought-provoking lessons that spark student interest in the arts and STEAM education.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Have broad knowledge of Theatre Education with a concentration in Theatre Design & Technology.
    • Collaborate closely with middle school colleagues on curriculum, assessment, and instructional design.
    • Have an understanding of the unique social and emotional needs of middle school students, along with an enthusiasm for working with this age group.
    • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, exhibit strong communication and problem-solving skills, and be exceptionally organized.
    • Be comfortable communicating proactively and tactfully with many stakeholders, including parents, volunteers, administrators, faculty, staff, and community members.
    • Consistently set high expectations for students and themselves.
    • Create a strong foundation for students to inspire continued involvement in the arts at the high school level.


    Appropriate NJ Certification required
