Job summary

TRU LAND Equipment in Indiana is seeking a skilled Service Technician to diagnose and repair lawn and garden equipment, including John Deere models. You will operate tools, track parts, and follow technical manuals with minimal rework.

You will participate in training, mentor apprentices, and maintain a clean, safe work area while meeting performance metrics. A valid driver’s license is required and forklift experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's degree preferred.
• 1+ years of experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience meeting performance metrics preferred.
• Ability to perform repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures with limited re-work or customer dissatisfaction.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agriculture and turf equipment.
• Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
• Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR or other computer-based diagnostic repair tools preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Valid driver's license required; Forklift license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere Lawn & Garden Equipment and other brands sold at the dealership.
• Operates and maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
• Participates in John Deere University training and dealer-led training to further development of skills and knowledge.
• Conducts or supports customer clinics.
• Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
• Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and Students as requested.
• Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
• Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
• Responsible for tracking all materials used in performing assigned duties.
• Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments in a timely manner.
• Other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by manager.
