Pacific Pros is seeking a Sr. Project Controls Manager (Level III) for Construction Projects to be a representative for Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA). These projects may include but are not limited to: Airside, Airline Terminal Improvement projects, Airport Service Improvement projects, Terminal Development projects and Asset Renewal.

Work Location: LAWA requires the candidates to be local for this position.

Region: Los Angeles, CA

Status: Full-time on-site.

Opening: Spring 2025, Immediate

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Reviews project work activities to ensure support of project milestones, develops micro-phasing schedules as required to coordinate particularly challenging work phases, and helps coordinate the various parties to completion.
  2. Participates in discussions with designers, contractors, and other third-party entities to proactively identify project risks and develop recommendations to mitigate the risks.
  3. Participates in reviewing the contractor pay application and ensures it is consistent with the schedule update and other progress documents.
  4. Coordinates cost recording, monitoring, and reporting practices for compliance with applicable standards accuracy and consistency.
  5. Coordinates development of schedule resource loading and leveling, and the schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
  6. Provides progress reporting documents and briefing materials as required, develops creative reporting tools to communicate complex project sequencing and/or progress assessments, and is responsible for promptly reporting budget and/or schedule variances.
  7. Possesses understanding and appreciation for time frames necessary including BHS, Special Systems, Power, HVAC, and other aviation-related disciplines.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous project controls experience on a large-scale, multi-million dollar construction project required. Experience on a large-scale aviation-related project is required.
  2. Must be a self-starter with a proactive, results-oriented focus and willing and capable of assuming additional responsibilities.
  3. Demonstrated success on the job, as evidenced by satisfactory performance, acceptance of responsibility, and growth in previous positions. Proven accuracy, reliability, and completeness in job accomplishment.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds; must be detail-oriented and highly organized; and must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer-service attitude.
  6. Must present a “can-do” spirit within the controls team: inspiring them to produce consistently accurate results at a fast pace.

Hardware/Software Knowledge:

  1. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of software products, e.g., Excel, Word, etc.
  2. Proficient with industry software such as Expedition, etc.
  3. Experience with Adobe Acrobat is required.
  4. Experience with Primavera Project Planner Version 6.0 or higher is desirable.
  5. Experience with large-scale construction management type software such as Prolog is desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  1. US Employment Authorization without needing sponsorship.

  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  4. A valid Driver’s License and compliance with PACIFIC’s Vehicle Policy.
  5. Proficiency with common Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat (PDF files).
  6. 3+ References from Clients (preferably from current public agency employees).
  7. 15 years or more of project controls experience for construction projects, preferably in airport/public sector.
  8. Demonstrated project controls experience managing the design and construction of large-scale, complex projects; including developing and managing a progress reporting methodology for a complicated design effort.
  9. Experience with Design-Build and Construction Management at Risk delivery methods is desirable.
  10. Demonstrated ability to understand a demanding, technical and complicated construction program; and the ability to communicate progress and issues to a technical- and management-level audience.

Education/Training:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, business, or other related field.
  2. Master’s degree preferred.

Element-Specific Requirements/Notes:

  1. Aviation experience preferred.
  2. May assume other duties as required/needed.
  3. May be required to work past regular work shifts.
  4. May be required to work various shifts as needed.
  5. This position may offer a hybrid/telework schedule per LAWA’s current Pilot Telework Policy. Potential Telework Allowance - Monday and Friday. Onsite - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please refer to LAWA’s Pilot Policy for details. LAWA may require staff to be fully on-site.
