Job summary

Wayne State University is seeking a Building Coordinator & Admin Assistant I at the Detroit campus to oversee building operations and provide essential administrative support within the Law School. The role emphasizes coordinating facilities, budgets, and staff in a fast-paced academic environment.

Ideal candidates will have an accredited degree or equivalent experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on-site five days a week.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience preferred.
  • Some knowledge of and experience with University academic and/or non‑academic personnel processing procedures and practices.
  • Some knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures and applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines.
  • Some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Typically, incumbents have held lower level clerical and/or secretarial support positions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to professional, administrative and management personnel coordinating personnel, financial and administrative activities to support operational goals.
  • Plan, develop and administer the unit operating budget; reconcile accounts and monitor revenues/expenditures; prepare related reports.
  • Coordinate collection, preparation and processing of personnel and payroll actions; maintain record-keeping systems; apply university policies.
  • Supervise clerical/technical staff; interview, hire, train and evaluate personnel; manage workflow and staffing levels.
  • Coordinate facilities, space leasing, maintenance, and related services; interface with campus units to resolve problems.
  • Serve as information source to faculty, staff, students and the public; address inquiries and resolve routine issues.
  • Participate in special projects and compile statistical data for reporting; prepare conclusions and recommendations.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
