Job summary

The Admissions Office at the University of Virginia School of Law seeks a Director of Admissions. This leadership role evaluates applications, interviews prospective students, and recruits admitted students across all phases of the cycle.

The Director will analyze data to inform decisions and monitor performance, and organize tours, information sessions, and open houses with involvement from students, faculty, and alumni.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus five years’ relevant experience required.
• A J.D. is strongly preferred.
• Ideal candidate will have experience practicing law and/or working in law school admissions or another higher education setting.
• Superior oral and written communication skills; excellent customer-service orientation; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; commitment to student services; ability to work with a range of constituencies in a team-oriented and collegial environment.
• Facility with databases and Microsoft Excel is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate applications and make admissions recommendations to the Assistant Dean.
• Interview prospective students and recruit admitted students during all phases of the admissions cycle.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data for use in analysis, decision-making, and performance monitoring.
• Help organize on-grounds events such as tours, class visits, admissions information sessions, and Admitted Students Open Houses.
• Enhance existing methods in student recruitment and data analysis, and develop new initiatives in the Admissions Office.
