Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago is seeking an Academic Support Specialist for UIC Law to support day and evening law students with study skills, exam strategies, and bar preparation. You will teach first-year Expert Learning and upper-level bar prep, offering guidance to a diverse student body.

Work with the Vice Dean and Associate Dean of Part-Time Programs to provide academic advising and counseling, including readmitted students and those on probation, while coordinating with other specialists.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Current or prior admission to a U.S. state bar.
• Strong writing and oral communication skills.
• Ability to mentor students with discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Academic Achievement Team to update curriculum for Expert Learning and bar prep.
• Counsel and advise law students and graduates on exam success.
• Review practice exams and provide feedback for readiness.
• Support accommodated students during exam periods with coordination with Student Life.
• Assist with exam administration and related duties as assigned.
