Job summary

The Law and Public Safety Department at Sinclair Community College seeks Ohio licensed attorneys to teach Business Law, Constitutional Law, and Criminal Law as part-time adjunct faculty at partner correctional institutions. Assignments are day, evening, and weekend courses across Pickaway, Madison, Ross, Southeastern, and Southern Ohio Correctional facilities in Ohio.

Starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour taught.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a culturally diverse college community.
• Ability to pass a DRC background check; required.
• Must be able to teach face-to-face in a prison education setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for assigned sections per policy.
• Employ teaching strategies and use instructional technology as appropriate.
• Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
• Evaluate and return student work promptly; maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Submit final grade rosters by deadlines; maintain records of student progress.
• Cannot exceed 12 credit hours per semester.

Position Summary

The Law and Public Safety Department is seeking Ohio licensed attorneys in good standing to teaching Business Law, Constitutional Law, and Criminal Law at our partner correctional institutions. Sinclair is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for day, evening, and weekend courses at our partner correctional institutions:

• Pickaway Correctional – Columbus (Orient), Ohio
• Madison Correctional – London, Ohio
• Ross Correctional – Chillicothe, Ohio
• Southeastern Correctional – Lancaster, Ohio
• Southern Ohio Correctional – Lucasville, Ohio

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who are able to perform work within one of these states. Sinclair Community College restricts part-time employment to approved states due to employment, tax, and benefits compliance requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
• Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

Requirements
