Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking a Law Library Technician to support daily library operations within a correctional facility. You will assist with ordering, cataloging, circulation, and maintenance of all library materials, ensuring accurate records and accessibility for staff and detainees.

Under supervision, you will help train detainee library aides, contribute to selection of new books and periodicals, and participate in inventories and orientation sessions as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience or training in operating a small institutional library is preferred.
• Ability to work with computers and library software used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and organize circulation of library materials.
• Assist in directing and training detainee library aides.
• Assist in selection of library books, periodicals and materials for purchase.
• Conduct library inventories and report circulation, inventory, newspapers and magazines.
• May assist in conducting library orientation for classes with instructors.
