Job summary

Arkansas Department of Transportation's Arkansas Highway Police division seeks a qualified technician to inspect, maintain, calibrate, certify and repair weigh station equipment, portable scales, firearms, and related law-enforcement gear.

Under general supervision, you will install equipment, run wiring, troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems, and provide officer training on firearm care.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to high school diploma.
• Firearms experience and troubleshooting/repair of vehicles and electrical/mechanical equipment preferred.
• Must complete firearms armorer training within eighteen months of hire.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
• 12V electrical wiring skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and/or perform maintenance, calibration and repair of weigh station facilities and related systems.
• Certify, maintain and repair portable scales.
• Inspect, clean, lube and repair firearms.
• Install equipment and accessories in vehicles and law-enforcement gear.
• Diagnose or repair electronic equipment and vehicle systems; perform preventative maintenance.
• Develop wiring diagrams and wiring work for patrol units.
• Install wiring per factory specifications.
• Provide officer training on firearm care and maintenance.
