Job summary

CAC I International Inc. is seeking a Law Clerk I to support the Department of Justice, Executive Office for United States Attorneys, in various US Attorney Offices. The role focuses on litigation support, legal research, and drafting of motions and briefs as part of criminal and civil cases.

Qualifications

Requires Law degree or having completed at least two years of study at an ABA-accredited law school.
Licensed by a state bar.
Must have valid State driver’s license.
Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience in litigation support or related field.
Familiarity with federal/state court systems and legal research resources.
Strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency with MS Office and document management tools.

Responsibilities

Works with assigned AUSAs or supervisory attorneys to determine applicable law and identify defenses or causes of action.
Keeps abreast of changes in criminal and civil rules; informs AUSAs of issues discovered in case files.
Manages 28 USC 2255 habeas and immigration habeas matters, including docketing, calendaring, and drafting responses.
Analyzes statutes, precedents, and regulatory materials; briefs attorneys on facts and issues; drafts legal documents for signature.
