O’Melveny & Myers LLP is seeking outstanding associates (5th to 7th year) with law and motion experience to lead law and motion work ahead of trial and to serve as embedded appellate counsel at trial. Ideal candidates will have excellent academic credentials, demonstrated brief writing, and strong case management.

Experience with dispositive motions, evidentiary motions, jury instructions, and verdict forms is essential.

O’Melveny & Myers LLP is looking for outstanding associates (5th to 7th year) with law and motion experience. We are seeking candidates who can lead law and motion work in advance of trial and serve as embedded appellate counsel at trial.

Ideal candidates should have excellent academic credentials and demonstrated experience in brief writing and case management. Candidates should be experienced and proficient with all forms of written advocacy at the trial level—including dispositive motions, evidentiary motions, jury instructions, and verdict forms. They should also have experience working with large multi-member teams. Demonstrated leadership experience on matters is ideal. Candidates should be capable of managing multiple significant matters simultaneously.

This role is particularly well suited for associates who enjoy managing complex litigation workflows, coordinating across multiple teams, and helping drive strategy in cases proceeding toward trial. Candidates should be comfortable serving as embedded appellate counsel on trial teams, partnering closely with trial counsel to preserve issues for appeal, develop legal strategy, and lead briefing on complex legal issues. Experience managing law and motion teams specifically for trial, working on MDLs, bellwether trials, and coordinated state court proceedings, and serving in embedded appellate roles is strongly preferred. Experience in the product liability and mass tort space is also a plus. This position offers significant opportunities to take ownership of high‑profile litigation, work closely with trial teams, and develop as a strategic leader in complex cases. Candidates should be able to exercise sound judgment, manage competing deadlines, supervise junior attorneys, and communicate effectively with partners, clients, experts, and co-counsel. Clerkships are preferred.
