Job Title: Laundry Worker

The Riverside County Probation Department is seeking to fill a Laundry Worker position at the Alan M. Crogan Youth Treatment and Education Center (AMC YTEC) in Riverside. Incumbents will collect, transport, sort, and count laundry, stand for long periods, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial washers and dryers, making minor sewing repairs to clothing and linen items, and using a computer to access and reply to emails, complete online training, and perform other computer-related tasks.

Work Schedule

The position requires working Thursday through Monday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Collect and receive bags of soiled laundry from hospital or institutional units and transport to laundry facilities; sort laundry by type and record weight.
• Transport laundry between different laundry operations; operate washers, extractors, conditioners, flatwork ironers, and pressers; sort and deliver finished laundry to storage areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of laundry machinery and work area through dusting, sweeping, mopping, and wiping.
• Make minor repairs to clothing or linen items.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English effectively, follow oral and written instructions, learn machine operations, and keep simple records.

Physical Requirements

Stand for long periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
