Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign linen deliveries throughout the hospital.
  • Stock linen carts for delivery to departments and floors.
  • Collect soiled linens from patient rooms, departments, and common areas following infection control protocols.
  • Monitor linen inventory levels, report shortages, and assist in maintaining adequate stock levels of clean linens.
  • Ensure timely delivery to meet hospital demand, including emergencies.
  • Inspect linens for cleanliness, damage and stains before delivery.
  • Maintain records of linen usage, collection and distribution as required by hospital policy.
  • Rotate and organize linen stock to use older linens first.
  • Follow safety protocols and infection control guidelines in handling linens and maintain clean work areas.

Job Summary

The Laundry Worker is responsible for ensuring that clean linen is properly stocked and delivered to hospital floors in a timely manner. This includes distributing, collecting, and managing all linen within the facility, ensuring that linens are handled, cleaned, and stored according to hospital standards. The Laundry Worker plays a key role in supporting the hospital's operational efficiency by maintaining a steady supply of clean linens for patient care and hospital functions.

Essential Functions
  • Schedules and assigns linen deliveries throughout the hospital.
  • Stocks linen carts to be delivered to various hospital departments and floors, ensuring timely delivery to meet the needs of patients, medical staff, and hospital operations.
  • Collects soiled linens from patient rooms, departments, and common areas, following proper infection control protocols and ensuring that linen is securely transported.
  • Monitors linen inventory levels, reports shortages, and assists in maintaining adequate stock levels of clean linens, towels, scrubs and other hospital fabrics.
  • Ensures that clean linen is delivered in a timely manner to meet hospital demand, with special attention to emergency or urgent requests.
  • Inspects linens for cleanliness, damage and stains before delivery, ensuring that only acceptable items are distributed to the hospital floors.
  • Maintains accurate records of linen usage, collection and distribution, as required by hospital policy.
  • Helps with rotating and organising linen stock to ensure that older linens are used first and that linens are properly stored in a clean and accessible manner.
  • Follows safety protocols and infection control guidelines in handling soiled and clean linens. Ensures that laundry equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
