Job summary

Buckner is hiring a Laundry Assistant to support resident services with hygienic laundry operations. You will collect laundry from various floors, sort according to procedures, operate and log washing machines, and deliver clean items to the High Rise, Sagecrest and Green Houses.

Strong English reading/writing and good communication are required. Responsibilities include adhering to infection control policies, following safety guidelines, and lifting/moving laundry with stamina.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive for company needs and have a TX license.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and sort laundry from multiple floors and load machines per procedures.
• Timed delivery of cleaned laundry to residents and designated facilities.
• Maintain infection control and safety policies throughout the shift.
• Record machine settings and log required information on laundry forms.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in required in-service training.

Job description

We are seeking a Laundry Assistant to join our community committed to delivering outstanding housekeeping services to our residents. As a Laundry Assistant, you will play an important role in all phases of the laundry that meets or exceeds Buckner quality, service, and hospitality standards. What you'll do:

• Pick up laundry from various floors three to four times daily during shift.
• Pick up dirty laundry from Sagecrest and Green Houses as scheduled.
• Sort all dirty laundry by kind in accordance with established procedures.
• Weigh and load each washing machine appropriately in accordance with established procedures.
• Program each machine and record on laundry forms the required information.
• Timely deliver personal clothes and laundry to the High Rise, Sagecrest and the Green Houses.
• Help fold and dry clean linen as directed.
• Follow all infection control practices for the laundry in accordance with established policies and procedures. Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Properly mix/dilute laundry detergents/chemicals and products according to instructions.
• Detect, correct and/or immediately report situations that have a possibility of causing accidents or injuries to residents or others.
• Observe and report resident symptoms, reactions and changes which may adversely affect the resident’s safety.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training as required.

What you'll bring:

• High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) preferred.
• Requires knowledge of procedures required to operate the Laundry in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Requires knowledge of and ability to comply with established sanitation procedures.
• Requires ability to follow infection control practices that may vary to include universal precautions as well as isolation procedures.
• Requires proficient ability to read, write, and understand business documents which are written in English. Requires ability to understand verbal English and speak English.
• Requires ability to communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires ability to make self clearly understood by others.
• Requires the ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
• Requires driving on behalf of the company and be age 21 or older with a valid TX driver's license.
• Requires the ability to move laundry carts/equipment throughout the facility, using up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a small amount of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
• Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and/or machines where the job is at or within arm’s reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance.
• Requires sufficient strength, mobility and stamina to make frequent location and position changes, unload carts, load washers and push loaded carts up ramps.
• Requires ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, and walk over 75% of shift.
