Job description

Under the general supervision of the Transport / Laundry Supervisor, performs a variety of duties related to the processing of laundered items through the hospital's laundry.

Responsibilities :

1. Participates in the daily activities and operations of the laundry department.
2. Operates washers and dryers according to established department procedures.
3. Performs laundry duties including pickup of soiled linen and delivery of clean linen to all units and clinical areas.
4. Folds linen and operates the Scrub-Avail System.
5. Stocks fresh linen on all linen carts.
6. Picks up and delivers linen carts to departments.
7. Organizes all clean linens inside and outside the laundry department daily.
8. Maintains and monitors par levels of linen for the hospital.
9. Maintains cleanliness of the laundry areas.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other information :

BASIC KNOWLEDGE :

• High school diploma or equivalent, typically attained at secondary school level.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write legibly, and speak English.

EXPERIENCE :

May require up to two months to become proficient in routine tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Workplace in healthcare settings such as acute care hospitals, physician offices, or ancillary healthcare enterprises.
• Adherence to safety procedures and use of PPE minimizes workplace hazards.
• Physical ability to perform required tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
