Summary
The position is located at the VA Western NY Healthcare System in the Environmental Management Service. The Laundry Worker position is located in the laundry plant and reports to the Laundry Supervisor, providing services for the Buffalo and Batavia campuses.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

1. Rotating through various work sites in the textile care processing facility to meet workload standards, including unloading soiled linen, sorting, and classification.
2. Operating small piece folders, flatwork ironers, and other laundry equipment.
3. Checking wet linen for knots, damage, and stains, and feeding linen into ironers.
4. Cleaning and maintaining laundry equipment.
5. Loading and preparing textiles for shipment, recording weights.
6. Maintaining a clean, safe work environment and performing duties safely and efficiently.
7. Performing other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. May include weekends and holidays as needed.

Requirements

• You must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Subject to background/security investigation and pre-employment physical.
• Completion of online onboarding and valid identification required.
• Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program mandatory.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate training or experience sufficient to perform the duties, supported by detailed descriptions in the resume. The rating will follow OPM standards.

Screen-Out Element: Ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision, customer service skills, dexterity and safety awareness, ability to interpret instructions, operation of equipment, and work practices.

Volunteer experience is credited. A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours/week; part-time experience is credited proportionally.

Education: No specific educational qualifications required.
