Position Summary
Operate institutional laundry washers and dryers to produce clean, sterile linens for the Hospital. Perform a variety of tasks related to the preparation, processing, delivery and inventory of linens and related Hospital articles supplied by the Environmental Services Department.

Read and interpret work orders and follow all established policies and procedures.
Sort, weigh, wash, dry, and fold linens in accordance with operational and infection control procedures.
Pre-treat or pre-wash heavily soiled or stained items using approved stain removal methods.
Load laundry machines per designated capacity, apply proper chemical agents, and monitor cycles for safety and efficiency.
Inspect linens during each stage of the laundering process for cleanliness and damage.
Perform minor machine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions to the Director.
Safely handle and replace hazardous chemicals, using appropriate PPE and procedures.
Ensure laundry areas and equipment are clean, organized, and free from lint and debris.
Adhere to infection control protocols when handling clean or soiled linens.
Maintain accurate records of incoming/outgoing linen by weight and inventory.
Load linen carts to established par levels and distribute to various departments.
Assist with linen inventory and report shortages or supply needs.
Examine linens for damage, stains, or imperfections and report any issues.
Participate as a team member in performing a range of tasks, including sorting, folding, inventorying, and delivering linens.
Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) knowledge and ensure proper chemical use per manufacturer instructions.
Transport soiled linens in covered containers and deliver clean linens in sealed, sanitized carts.
Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards.
Support departmental cleanliness and assist in care and upkeep of laundry facilities and supplies.
Cross-train with Environmental Services (EVS) and assist as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital mission and operations.
Complete required education, competency tests, and training by set deadlines.
Attend work regularly, on time, and participate in staff meetings as scheduled.
Promote a culture of safety and report all safety or infection control incidents by end of business day.
Abide by hospital Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values.
Follow all hospital, state, federal, and regulatory policies (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, CMS, TJC).
Deliver excellent customer service and demonstrate professionalism and teamwork.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in institutional laundry services is an asset.
Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral instructions.
Demonstrated ability to lift, push, and carry heavy loads (up to 50 lbs).
Knowledge of industrial laundry equipment and chemical handling is preferred.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Frequent exposure to heat, humidity, noise, and industrial laundry equipment.
Involves standing, lifting, bending, and pushing heavy carts throughout shift.
Regular use of PPE and handling of chemicals per safety protocols.
