Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Centre in Portland, Indiana is seeking Laundry Attendants to ensure clean, safe, and sanitary facility operations and to maintain adequate linen supply for residents.

Responsibilities include sorting, washing, drying, and distributing laundry, following established procedures, and maintaining schedules while ensuring safety and timely delivery to residents. The role requires basic reading/writing in English and the ability to work under stress.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Ability to communicate with residents, families and staff.
• Physical ability to bend, lift, walk, grasp and respond to sensory cues.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day laundry functions and assigned tasks per procedures.
• Collect, sort and wash soiled laundry, linens and garments per procedures.
• Sort, fold, stack and distribute clean laundry to residents and carts/closets.
• Ensure work and cleaning schedules are followed.
• Secure soiled hampers and transport to laundry in covered containers.

About the Role:

Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Centre is seeking Laundry Attendants -

• To perform day-to-day laundry functions and specific tasks as assigned and in accordance with established laundry procedures.
• To collect, sort and wash soiled laundry, linens, garments, etc., in accordance with established procedures.
• To sort, fold, stack and distribute clean laundry, linens and garments to residents and all linen carts/closets.
• To ensure the work and cleaning schedules are followed.
• To secure soiled linen hampers and soiled personal clothing from designated areas and transport to laundry in covered containers.

About you:

The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience:

• Completion of elementary education or otherwise show ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions in English.
• Ability to read and write in English, ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel and support agencies and ability to remain calm under stress.
• Bending, lifting, walking, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to distinguish smell, taste and temperatures, ability to hear and respond to pages.
