Savant Senior Living in Riverside, CA is seeking a dedicated Laundry Assistant to ensure residents’ clothing and linens are clean and well-maintained. You will work closely with the care staff to meet individual preferences and uphold hygiene standards.

Responsibilities include operating laundry equipment, sorting items, treating stains, and returning clean items to rooms. Prior experience in healthcare settings is a plus, with strict adherence to PPE and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
• First Aid/ CPR certification.
• California Code of Regulations Sections: 85065(f)/87411(g) special skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous laundry experience is a plus.
• Assisted living/healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and launder residents’ clothing, bed linens, towels, and other items with proper color/fabric separation.
• Fold, iron, and return laundered items to residents’ rooms neatly.
• Identify and treat stains promptly.
• Operate laundry machines per manufacturer instructions and facility protocols.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on laundry equipment.
• Report malfunctions to facility management.
• Adhere to care instructions to preserve item longevity.
• Use PPE and safety precautions when handling soiled laundry.
• Liaise with residents/families about laundry preferences.
• Collaborate with housekeeping and care staff for timely laundry delivery.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols.
• Keep laundry area clean and organized.
• Monitor supplies and notify manager when running low.
• Handle residents’ personal items with care.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laundry Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the residents’ clothing, bedding, and other linens are cleaned and maintained in a timely and hygienic manner. The role involves close collaboration with other staff to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents within the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect, sort, and launder all residents’ clothing, bed linens, towels, and other items, ensuring that colors and fabrics are appropriately separated.
• Fold, iron, and return laundered items to the respective resident’s room in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Identify and treat stains or damage on clothing or linens promptly.
• Operate laundry machines following the manufacture’s instructions and facility protocols.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on laundry equipment to ensure it’s in good working condition.
• Report any malfunctions or needs for repairs to the facility management.
• Ensure that all clothing is laundered according to care instructions, ensuring the longevity of items, and avoiding damage.
• Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety precautions when handling soiled laundry.
• Liaise with residents and/or their families regarding specific laundry preferences or concerns.
• Collaborate with the housekeeping and care staff to ensure timely collection and delivery or laundry.
• Adhere to all facility health and safety protocols.
• Ensure that the laundry area is kept clean, organized, and free from hazards.
• Keep track of laundry supplies and notify the manager when supplies are running low.
• Handle residents’ personal items with care, ensuring nothing is lost or misplaced.
• Perform other duties as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The incumbent in this position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

• At least 18 years of age.
• Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
• Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified)
• Special skills needed to meet client needs [California Code of Regulations Sections: 85065(f)/87411(g)]
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in laundry services or a similar role is a plus.
• Experience in assisted living, health care, or a similar environment is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents and staff.
• Ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
• Knowledge of laundry equipment, products, and care labels.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physical ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50lbs.

Pay scale: $17.00-19.50 per hour
