Job Summary

Perform all aspects of laundry duties, including sorting, washing, floating, folding, and checking all closets and hang-ups. Distribute laundry to the proper racks for different neighborhoods and to designated areas such as the kitchen, pool towels, spa, Bailey Street, and the beauty shop. Responsible for sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens, gathering dirty laundry, cleaning the folding and sorting areas, and maintaining laundry equipment and work areas.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Collect and sort soiled linens; treat stained articles; rewash or soak clothing as needed.
• Wash hands thoroughly after handling dirty laundry; wear gloves and gown when sorting laundry.
• Read labels for proper washing instructions; follow special instructions for certain items; check for items like hearing aids or pins in pockets.
• Operate washers and dryers properly, ensuring correct loading to prevent damage.
• Handle contaminated linens following state regulations and universal precautions.
• Fold and hang laundry items, including personal clothing and linens, according to department standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of laundry areas and equipment, perform weekly cleaning, and report supply or equipment issues.
• Follow safety procedures, emergency protocols, and work cooperatively with staff, residents, and volunteers.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety guidelines throughout all duties.
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors.
