Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for sorting dirty laundry, loading and unloading washing machines and dryers, and folding linens.

Reports To: Laundry Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor

Qualifications:

• Ability to read Standard English
• Ability to operate standard and commercial laundry machinery
• Ability to understand and follow instructions

Physical Demands:

• Pulling and pushing wet laundry (50–75 pounds)
• Standing for 7–8 hours
• Stooping, kneeling, bending
• Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills
• Frequently lifting 30–40 pounds

Responsibilities:

• Report to laundry at scheduled times and collect dirty laundry
• Load washers, prepare linens for change
• Keep dirty and clean linens separate
• Check water temperature (at least 150°F)
• Clean lint traps regularly
• Maintain proper levels of detergents, softeners, and bleach
• Keep floors, walls, and equipment clean
• Unload dry laundry, fold, and store properly
• Operate laundry equipment per policies
• Report equipment issues
• Shut down equipment during fire alarms
• Follow all safety and policy procedures
