Job Description - Laundry Aide HCC (2506101)

JOB PURPOSE:

The Laundry Aide is responsible for tending laundering machines to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and personal articles of patients. Tasks include loading articles into washers, adding detergents or cleaning agents, transferring wet articles to wringers and dryers, sorting and folding laundry, and storing items appropriately.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fold and sort laundry, including blankets, sheets, towels, and personal clothing items.
  2. Hang clothes on racks according to name and identification numbers.
  3. Deliver patient/resident laundry to designated areas.
  4. Ensure clothes are ready to wear, in good condition, and properly stored.
  5. Understand the functions of various soaps and bleaches.
  6. Follow safety precautions as per MSDS for all chemicals used.
  7. Wash and dry clothes and linens.
  8. Keep equipment clean and adhere to cleaning schedules.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized laundry area, including sweeping and mopping.
  10. Report any repairs needed to the maintenance department.
  11. Operate large filters according to schedule.
  12. Handle soiled laundry items properly.
  13. Clean and disinfect linen carts as per policy.
  14. Empty washers and dryers as needed.
  15. Operate water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves.
  16. Apply proper stain removal techniques.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Degree preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: On-the-job training provided.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred): Previous experience in healthcare laundering processes.
