Job Description

The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or the Housekeeping Supervisor. The goal is to ensure our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, with an adequate supply of linen to meet the needs of residents.

Responsibilities include:

  • Following work/cleaning schedules closely.
  • Reporting all accidents/incidents to your supervisor.
  • Coordinating daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident areas.
  • Following fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Using safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back braces, mechanical lifts) when lifting or moving heavy objects.
  • Maintaining work areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner (e.g., dryer lint traps).
  • Mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions properly, referring to MSDSs as needed.
  • Using personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials.
  • Keeping supervisors informed of supply needs.
  • Maintaining a hazard-free work environment.
  • Cleaning work and supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary.
  • Ensuring equipment is cleaned and stored properly at the end of shifts.
  • Performing laundry procedures as per established guidelines.
  • Distributing clean laundry during emergencies as instructed.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all resident care and protected health information, and reporting any incidents of unauthorized disclosure.
Qualifications
  • Ability to maintain sanitation, order, and safety of supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions regarding cleaning compounds and procedures.
  • Physical ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and to carry such weight over at least 50 feet.
