Job summary

Bethesda Health Group is hiring a laundry worker to transfer wet linens to dryers, deliver clean linens to residents, and keep the laundry area orderly and safe. You will verify resident names and room numbers for timely delivery and report equipment issues to supervision.

The role requires basic reading/writing, ability to lift 10–70 lbs, and the capacity to stand for long periods in a warm, noisy environment. Regular status full-time employees are eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months experience in an institutional laundry preferred.
• Able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Able to operate commercial laundry equipment.
• Good manual dexterity and motor skills.
• Must lift 10–70 lbs and push/pull heavy carts.
• Able to stand for extended periods in a noisy, hot, humid environment.

Responsibilities

• Transfer wet linens to dryers and set temperature.
• Deliver clean linens to linen room and residents’ rooms timely.
• Maintain accurate resident name and room lists for deliveries.
• Keep laundry area and carts clean and safe; report malfunctions.

Summary

Transfers wet linens to dryers and sets dryer on correct temperature for linens being dried. Delivers clean linens to linen room and/or residents' rooms in the appropriate time frame allotted. Checks resident articles for proper identification and marks personal items as necessary. Sorts personal items according to resident room; delivers and puts away residents' personal items in a timely manner. Maintains resident list with proper names and room numbers to ensure proper delivery of personal items in a timely manner. Maintains cleanliness of laundry room, carts, and assigned area, meeting minimum safety/cleanliness standards 100% of the time. Immediately reports equipment malfunctions to department manager and/or supervisor. Crossed trained to perform the essential functions of the washing machine operator position. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications

Pay range: $15.00 - $19.13 per hour
