The Laundry Aide will perform day-to-day activities of the laundry department to ensure provision of quality laundry service compliance in accordance to Federal, State and Local ordinance and regulations. Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general housekeeping/cleaning duties in various areas to maintain the center in a sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition.
• Perform all general laundry duties such as coordinating inventories of clothing and personal items brought in with new residents, marking with proper identification, and coordinating picking up brutes with soiled linen from each wing throughout the shift.
• Prepare articles for washing by unbuttoning, turning pockets out, and unrolling sleeves; sort soiled laundry into appropriate loads for washing.
• Coordinate standard washing procedures to add soap solution and other chemicals to wash, drying of linens and resident's clothing in dryer, and pressing of garments.
• Check condition of linens for worn spots or tears, fold linen and return sufficient amounts to the clean linen room on each wing for daily needs, and distribute laundry to appropriate residents.
• Ensure clothing is returned to residents following laundry services; report unmarked clothing to social services department; dispose of unmarked clothing left in laundry.
• M(ntain) equipment used in performing duties; clean washers and dryers, clean dryer lint filters every two hours, and soap dispensers at the end or near the end of the shift; brush spillage from floor into drain; clean brutes and replace liners daily as assigned.
• Monitor and replenish cleaning products as required; inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies; use industrial cleaning equipment and products.
• Understand and demonstrate knowledge of sanitation regulations and team management abilities; make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
• Work with residents, nurses, physicians, department leaders and other staff members regarding laundry services requests, infection prevention, service resolution opportunities, and other interdepartmental matters.
• Provide timely follow-up for information to requesting departments.
• Receive assignments from supervisor and follow cleaning schedule as outlined for housekeeping department to clean work space, entrances and exits, utility areas, closets, lounges, lobbies, halls, etc.; perform emergency housekeeping.
• Follow work assignments from supervisor, not limited to cleaning lint from dryers, vents and registers in resident rooms and other areas; keep grounds cleared of debris; clean, dust, wash, and disinfect all fixtures, floors, walls, doors, and ceilings, as required; change slip covers, scarves, doilies, etc. when soiled and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion; clean ledges, shelves, vents, windows, window sills, etc.
• Support the housekeeping/laundry department by fulfilling vacant positions as needed by the center.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• One year's work experience in a commercial establishment with knowledge of laundry/housekeeping procedures.
