Job summary

Avantara Park Ridge is seeking a dedicated Laundry Aide to support on-site laundry services in our Park Ridge, IL facility. You will wash, dry, fold and mend clothing while adhering to infection control procedures and safety guidelines, five days a week with rotating weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience with general laundry processes (wash, dry, fold, mend) preferred.
• Ability to follow infection control and safety procedures.
• Strong patient/resident-centered communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Sort soiled laundry per infection control procedures.
• Load and unload laundry, monitor machines, use laundry chemicals.
• Sort, label, fold, mend, count, and iron clean laundry.
• Maintain infection control practices at all times.
• Respond to call lights promptly and courteously.
• Train new staff and assist others as needed.

Laundry Aide

The Laundry Worker plays a critical role in providing general laundry services to all Guests in the facility. The Laundry Worker's main function is to wash, dry, fold and mend clothing while following infection control and safety procedures. The Laundry Worker will be working on-site at the designated skilled nursing facility, five days a week with rotating weekend shifts.

At Avantara Park Ridge, we've taken every aspect of the post-hospital rehabilitation experience and exceed expectations in service and safety.

Essential Functions

• Sorts soiled laundry in accordance with established infection control procedures.
• Loads and unloads laundry into and out of washing and drying machines using laundry chemicals and monitors machines while in use.
• Sorts, labels, folds, mends, counts and irons clean laundry.
• Assure that established infection control and prevention practices and standard precautions are maintained at all times.
• Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply issues to the supervisor.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
• Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Guest care areas.
• Assists with training of new staff.
• Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Guests, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
• Ensure each Guest receives person centered care.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in housekeeping/laundry role preferred.
