SUMMARY: The primary purpose of your job is to perform daily Laundry Department functions, ensuring quality laundry services, safeguarding residents' health and safety, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary laundry area in accordance with policies, laws, and supervisor instructions. As a Laundry Aide, you are delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability for your duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the facility’s philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals.
- Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers.
- Separate items requiring special stain removal/treatment.
- Wash and dry laundry following established procedures.
- Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry to residents.
- Clean laundry room floors, walls, and ceilings regularly.
- Remove dirt, dust, lint, grease, and film from equipment and surfaces.
- Distribute clean laundry during emergency conditions as instructed.
- Turn in unidentified laundry to the supervisor.
- Dispose of waste properly and keep trash receptacles lined.
- Keep work areas clean and free of hazards, and store equipment properly.
- Maintain infection control and standard precautions.
- Use protective clothing when handling infectious materials.
- Coordinate laundry services with nursing staff as needed.
- Follow safety precautions and ensure equipment is cleaned and ready for the next shift.
- Report equipment malfunctions, supply needs, and hazardous conditions.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and rights.
- Attend department meetings and training sessions.
- Submit schedules, supply sheets, and medical examinations timely.
- Follow fire, disaster, and evacuation policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a minimum of an 8th-grade education.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and the public.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and work area sanitation, safety, and order.
