Overview

Laundry team members assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing laundry support. This position is responsible for caring for facility linens and personal clothing of residents by collecting, laundering, folding, and returning the clean linens/clothing to the designated locations.

Salary

Starting at $15.60 / hour

Responsibilities

1. Consistently demonstrates the Elderwood iCARE Values.
2. Sorts soiled linen or clothes into appropriate categories according to type, soiling, fabric, and color.
3. Labels residents' clothing and retains records of personal possessions of each resident.
4. Assists in locating missing articles of clothing.
5. Loads washing machines, selects wash cycle, adds soaps, detergents, and bleaches.
6. Transfers washed linen or clothes into dryers and starts the machine.
7. Sorts dry linen, folds, and prepares for delivery to designated areas within the facility.
8. Prepares for delivery and distributes residents' personal garments.
9. Removes lint and dust from machines, and keeps laundry area clean daily.
10. Practices good infection control measures in laundry processing and personal habits.
11. Stores compounds and hazardous substances properly.
12. Assists with studies of new products or laundry methods when necessary.
13. Arrives on time, works as scheduled; responsible for own transportation.
14. Maintains confidentiality and privacy of resident information.
15. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management, or administrator.

Qualifications

1. Minimum 18 years old; HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Experience related to the role preferred but not required.
3. Interest in laundry operations necessary.
4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
5. Respect for residents' privacy and rights; respectful treatment required.
6. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level due to interaction with residents, coworkers, and visitors.
