TheLaundry Aideis responsible for collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing resident clothing, linens, towels, and other facility laundry. This position ensures laundry is processed efficiently and maintained in aclean and sanitary mannerwhile following facility procedures,infection control standards, andsafety requirements.
Reporting:This position reports directly to theHousekeeping Supervisor.
Collectsoiled resident clothing, linens, towels, blankets, and other laundry from designated areas
Sort laundryaccording to color, fabric type, level of soiling, and facility procedures
Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipmentsafely and according to established procedures
Measure and usedetergents, disinfectants, and other laundry productsaccording to instructions
Wash, dry, fold, and organizeresident clothing and facility linens
Inspect clothing and linens for stains, damage, or items requiring special handling
Handle resident clothing and personal belongingscarefully and respectfully
Return clean resident clothing and linens to the appropriate resident rooms or designated areas
Maintain an adequate supply ofclean linens, towels, blankets, and other laundry items
Keep thelaundry room, equipment, work areas, and storage areas clean, organized, and free from hazards
Followinfection control policies and procedureswhen handling soiled or contaminated laundry
Use appropriatepersonal protective equipment (PPE)when required
Properly handle and dispose of laundry-related waste according to facility procedures
Maintain an organized supply of linens and laundry products
Promptly report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, lost or damaged resident belongings, or other issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor
Treat all residents withdignity and respectwhen performing duties in resident care areas
Becourteous, considerate, and cooperativewhen communicating with residents, families, facility personnel, and the public
Practiceinfection control and safety proceduresof the department and facility
React appropriately toemergencies and disaster situations
Attendin-service education and staff meetingsas required
Assist with other housekeeping duties as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned
High School graduate or equivalent preferred
No professional license required
No prior experience required
Laundry, housekeeping, healthcare, institutional, or long-term care experiencepreferred
Knowledge ofbasic laundry, cleaning, and disinfecting principles
Ability to safely operatewashers, dryers, and other laundry equipment
Ability to follow written and verbal directions and complete assigned responsibilities
Ability toread, speak, and understand English
Ability to properly sort, handle, wash, dry, fold, and distribute laundry
Ability to safely handlelaundry chemicals and cleaning products
Strongattention to detail and organization

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able tolift and carry laundry bags, linens, clothing, and supplies
Frequent handling ofsoiled and potentially contaminated laundry
Potential exposure tobloodborne pathogensand other conditions associated with a 24-hour skilled care environment
