Job summary

USASMDC‑TC Aerophysics Research Facility in Alabama seeks a Research Technician to support maintenance, fabrication, and operation of launcher systems for ballistic testing and research. Responsibilities include assembling, calibrating, and documenting test activities while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a strong mechanical background, ability to work 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, and eligibility for a Final Secret Security Clearance.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two years of college coursework or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8+ years of full-time, verifiable work experience.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Support the assembly, setup, operation, and maintenance of specialized test launcher systems.
  • Perform fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical components.
  • Document project activities and maintain checklists.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Assist in operation, inspection, and maintenance of hydraulic and pressurized gas systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of test areas and facilities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and staff to support research and facility operations.
