ManTech is seeking Top Talent as a Manufacturing Engineer to support new entrant certification of the New Glenn launch vehicle system in the El Segundo, CA area.

The position remotely supports the Space and Missile Systems Center Launch Enterprise Directorate (SMC/LEA) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, CA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Work with the launch vehicle provider to schedule and track audits to be performed during rocket certification activities.
  2. Develop, conduct, and assess results of audits of flight critical item manufacture and processes per applicable military and industry/commercial manufacturing standards such as AS6500.
  3. Create audit plans and checklists, and conduct production floor audits to verify documented processes are being followed.
  4. Interface with customer, design engineers, project manager, and production personnel.
  5. Compile and present weekly status charts to AF leadership.
  6. Participate in Engineering Review Boards and apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  7. Examine product design and its implementation to manufacturing processes assessing/evaluating the manufacturing baseline for qualification, capability, process control and maturity.
  8. Assess documentation for proper configuration management and change control.
  9. Assess/evaluate conformance to standards, specifications, drawings, procedures, work instructions, other contractual requirements and the traceability to the functional and physical characteristics of configuration items.
  10. Review process changes to determine impact to process stability.
  11. Assess facilities manufacturing capacity, production readiness, vendor/supplier control requirements.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. BS degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or Physical Sciences; will consider higher education in lieu of experience and more experience in lieu of education.
  2. 10 years of experience with launch vehicle/space sub-system and process engineering.
  3. Experience with space-qualified parts fabrication and assembly.
  4. Experience involving manufacture of complex products; application of manufacturing principles and methods including: product design, process design, producibility, process qualifications/validation, product design requirements flow down to manufacturing process requirements/documentation, product and process controls, measurement and test, product/process audits, statistical applications, configuration management, and lean manufacturing.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Experience with MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  7. Ability to travel up to 50% time.
  8. Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time to LASFB, Launch Service Providers and Sub Suppliers.
Security Requirements:

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance.

Physical Requirements:
  1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  2. Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  3. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  4. Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

The projected compensation range for this position is $96,100.00-$159,900.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
