Job summary

SpaceXSI in Memphis, TN is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to provide design support and expertise in fire protection, life safety, and building codes for SpaceX launch facilities. You will develop fire and life safety designs, assess materials, and support risk analyses to ensure code compliance.

Responsibilities include preparing compliance documents, reviewing drawings, and supporting commissioning activities with AHJ.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
2+ years of experience in the design and construction of fire protection systems or fire protection consulting.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Working knowledge of Building & Fire Codes and NFPA standards.
Ability to lead project design teams.

Responsibilities

Support engineering design, analysis, calculations and specifications for facility fire and life safety systems.
Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for SpaceX launch facilities.
Perform hazardous material analysis for code compliance purposes, such as chemical classification, quantity analysis and inventory management.
Review and comment on shop drawing design packages developed by contractors.
Conduct fire/life safety code reviews and analyses.
Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
Support commissioning activities during pre-test and AHJ testing phases.
